Confirmed: Kim Kardashian Comining to Kuwait!

12 Apr

Just got this news from the company behind the franchise of Millions of Milkshakes, Kim Kardashian will be coming to Kuwait on October 11th. She will be at the opening of Millions of Milkshakes and there will be other private events that she will be attending while she’s here!

Now the question is, whether you are a girl or a guy, are you gonna make sure to see her?

Review: The Breakfast Club

10 Apr

Cheeky visited Kuwait during the weekend and it was time for us to catchup and do some fun stuff! we finally managed to have a full day of food and activities along with a good friend of ours which was so much fun :D one of those places was the Breakfast Club where we decided to start our day with a good breakfast. It was our first time to try the place as we heard so many reviews about it, and as we are both good fans of omelets, then we had to try this place ourselves.

Our first impression wasnt so good cuz of the place it was located at! Its located in Fintas, and we don’t mind the area at all, however, the place is between a lot of residential buildings, which doesn’t give you a good view at all, and it can get a bit uncomfortable if you are sitting outside.

Now back to the food, the menu doesn’t have a lot of varieties, but they are definitely good enough for different tastes, I went with the American breakfast (you can never go wrong with that), Cheeky went for something more healthy with the white omelet, and our friend went straight to dessert with some good old pancakes.

American Breakfast:

I would have changed a couple of things about my dish but I guess I was too hungry to care. I would have had scrambled eggs instead and something else instead of the beans, overall the meal was really good and satisfying.

White Omelet:

Cheeky said that she enjoyed her meal a lot, it was very light and tasty along with their white tea also.

Pancakes:

I honestly prefer my pancakes to be very soft and slightly sweet, these were a bit crunchy and extra grilled I believe, but they still taste good, so its just a matter of preference :)

Overall, we liked the place, we enjoyed our time there, the staff was very friendly and I would probably be more excited about visiting again if they open a new branch somewhere better :)

Me & The Pets

9 Apr

As you all know by now that I LOVE animals, almost all types of animals, picky about some and scared of others, but I love them in general. And as much as I do, sadly I never got the chance to raise any during my childhood, I only had a cat almost 7 years ago where I had to give it away after my parents were very bothered by the hair it was leaving on the furniture, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was the best cat that anyone could have.

2 Years ago, my best friend got me a baby hamster, he was adorable, I freaked out a little bit in the beginning ( I never had a hamster before) but before I knew it, I was getting attached and loving having him around (seems like am talking about a human being I know :P) he was very playful, active, friendly and funny! he lived 2 happy years and passed away! it was very sad cuz there was nothing I could do, part of me wanted him to die cuz I didn’t want him to suffer for too long.

After that, I decided that I don’t wanna have pets for a while (still recovering from the last loss :P) untill one day my brother surprised me with another hamster! was I ready? am not sure, but I got caught up and got excited and decided to keep him straight away. The problem is that he’s nothing like the hamster that I had before! he’s not as friendly, he’s always hiding in his house, he eats ALOT and gained a lot of weight! so I cant hold him, I cant play with him, so it’s almost pointless, I just put him in his plastic ball and watch him move around like an airhead.

But that all changed when I finally got a kitten :D I did say how much I love animals, but there’s nothing like cats! I just adore them and call them MY people :P so this cat is so crazy that you can even imagine! he’s VERY hyper, active and playful to an extreme that its hard for me to keep up with him! and for that reason, I have called him “Messi”, he plays football better than the real one :P he does a lot of stupid moves that cracks the family up, but whenever he’s tired and sleepy, he becomes this fury ball of purr that just wants to cuddle. I know he looks angry and scary in the above picture, but hes nothing like that :P

So that’s basically my pet family! do you have any? share your stories with us :)

One of those Days: Distracted

2 Apr

I have been feeling like this for a while now, distracted, unfocused, bored, sick of routine and it’s getting too into me. It feels like its been awhile since a change happened in my life, but this time not any change would do, it must be a change that I want, or more like I NEED. Everyday I wake up with the same feeling, that I don’t feel like going to work, and when I do, it starts getting more boring from there, same routine, don’t feel like working even if I had stuff to do, and lately I don’t feel like playing round, I don’t wanna blog, I stopped tweeting and instagraming, and everything is going down from there.

Do I know what my problem is? yes you can say that, can I do anything about it? No.

But today I pushed myself a bit harder, I started working, am catching up with my blog and my friends, am facebooking again, and hopefully I can manage this and not fall for it again.

So what have I been missing lately?

my lookalike? britney spears? really?

20 Mar

so it was a lovely weekend in kuwait!

but the flight to kuwait started so strangely and got stranger and stranger!

i’m sure most of u don’t know what i look like.. but i have darkish skin.. blackish-brown hair.. and brown eyes..

so keep that in mind when you hear the first part of this story..

so i check in at dubai airport.. go through immigration.. and go straight to costa.. desperately in need of a coffee!!!

so i ask for my coffee… and the lady asks me where am i from.. i ask her where do you think i’m from????

she looks at me and says “i don’t know mam – but you look like britney spears”

i stare at her with a blank face ;p then recover and say while i hold me hair “i think so too”

and she laughs and goes your eyes mam ;p

well.. then 3 other people start trying to convince me i’m not from where i say i am and i have half spanish / half brazilian / half something / half anything!

very entertaining ;p

Event: Russell Peters in the Middle East

19 Mar

I have written about how much I love Russell Peters long time ago (read here) and i know some people might not find him funny, or when he makes fun of their accent, traditions, they just say “well it’s not true”, whether its true or it’s not, the guy has a good sense of humor, and its a COMEDY show, so it’s not about facts and whats true and whats not.

I have been wishing for him to visit Kuwait for ages, sadly this isn’t happening in his 2012 tour. However, he is visiting Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Lebanon! how cool is that? I honestly envy them, I would definitely go to his show if I got the chance.

What surprised me is that Dubai & Abu Dhabi shows are sold out, except for Lebanon, which is happening in 4 days! Could it be cuz of the last time he made fun of Lebanese night life? Check it out:

If you are attending any of his shows, please let us know how did it go :)

One of those days: Confusing Weather

18 Mar

Just ranting about the weather..

We are all by now are kinda used to the dust storm that we get on regular basis right now and specially in the summer. The weather is changing around the world and it only makes sense as Kuwait has a lot of desert that we get these kind of storms. We are all used to it and yet we complain, that’s just human nature! Am sure that in the states or any of those cold countries they complain about the snow and the cold as much as we complain about the dust! and who knows, they might wish for having the dust instead of the snow! are you willing to exchange if you can?

Whats surprising me is that for a very long time we didn’t have winter that lasted this long! i mean it’s almost April and today the temperature was 10 in the morning! we don’t really know if we should wear summer clothes and have extra jackets on us or just wear light winter clothes and hope we don’t get hot in the afternoon!

I’m not really looking forward to summer, I think am not the summer kind of person. I mean if you are cold, you can always wear extra clothes, but if you are hot, what are you gonna do? Some people look forward to summer cuz of the beach and all the activities, well I don’t think anyone could stand the heat in Kuwait! who would go to the beach in Kuwait in summer when it’s over 50 degrees? unless you wanna commit suicide.

So be careful people of this weather change, it’s probably full of viruses and to those who suffer from breathing problems too.

Stay safe

Event: Wataniya Give Kuwait Bloggers Night

15 Mar

2 months ago I wrote about Wataniya’s press conference for launching Give Kuwait 2 (read it here) and explained the main purpose for this campaign. 2 days ago Wataniya invited a lot of Kuwait’s bloggers for a private event at Tatami (read my review here) to explain more about the campaign and encourage whoever is interested to take the initiative and register cuz this would be a great opportunity.

What is Give Kuwait?

Give Kuwait is a program that will help YOU if you have a small business (whether it’s an idea, service or a product) and need someone to push you into the right path.

How does this work?

You need to be 18 and above and have a great startup business. You shouldnt have a retail store for your business (starting fresh lets say). Fill out a registration form HERE and you might be chosen along with 250 other participants.

What do you get?

You will be part of a huge advertising campaign (radio, billboards and press), so you can say all of Kuwait will know about you. You will have a free booth at the biggest exhibition of its kind in Kuwait for 5 days to present your work. And if you are a trainee, you will get skill development training workshops.

I honestly think this is a great chance given by Wataniya to everyone who have a small business or an idea and couldn’t go for it for many reasons that we all know of. this is your chance to be successful, so what are you waiting for?

To register, fill out the form HERE and let us know if you go through :) all the best of luck!

Thank you Wataniya for the event, thanks to each one of you (so I wouldn’t forget any names) for keeping us updated. Thanks to Tatami for having us too :)

Review: Sunny Side Up

12 Mar

Last week we were invited by Mr. Faisal the owner of this Kuwaiti concept called Sunny Side Up. It’s a breakfast place and soon will be serving other dishes on the menu other than breakfast. The place is located in Mubarakeya, which I don’t prefer personally and wish it was on the main road too, specially that they had a seating outside. On the inside its a very small place that can be cozy, but sadly its opened to other shops in side the mall which gave me a weird feeling.

Now let’s get to the food.

I’m a big fan of omelets and you can find many varieties on their menu when it comes to eggs. Everything seemed yummy, though I had to make a decision, and this is what we ended up with:

Late Miami omelet: if you like your omelets to be a bit juicy then this is the right one. I loved it and it’s definitely a big portion that could do for more than just a breakfast. Sadly the sausages were a bit dry with lots of spices, I would go with the regular hotdog instead. As for tha hashbrown, am still having mixed feelings.

The Sunny Side Up Omelet: If you are looking for something more dry, then this is a good omelet. The bacon was perfectly cooked, not too dry and not too oily.

I don’t have a sweet tooth, but when it comes to pancakes am all in! We ordered the regularly pancakes with maple syrup and thank god we did. It was absolutely mouth-watering and delicious. It was fresh, warm and perfectly portioned. Thumbs up.

Its Our Second Anniversary :D

9 Mar

Today marks our second anniversary of blogging :) We are very happy that we came this long way and just to make it clear, we aren’t thinking of quitting anytime soon :P

Its been 2 years since me and Cheeky used to sit on the stairs of our working place and complain about work and our horrible bosses, and suddenly the idea of making a blog hit us and got us excited to start away with it. So basically its been two years since we made a silly decision that turned out to be one of our best decisions ever :D

Our journey started very exciting, having a place to vent all our emotions out at and not to really care was amazing! before we know it, a lot of readers started leaving comments and started making new friends. We were liking it.

A year passed by and we were having lots of mixed feeling about the blog. We were making new friends (readers and fellow bloggers) but we don’t really know them! companies were communicating with us and we were a bit confused and unexperienced in this field. But that didn’t stop us from taking a step forward, after all, we started this thing for fun, so we might as well enjoy it as much as we can :)

Our second year was very different, we finally got to meet most of our fellow bloggers in person, we got to talk to them and share ideas and thoughts. We got a lot of invitations to a lot of places, some were pointless and using us as a marketing tool all the way, and some were some of the best events ever! eitherways, we definitely enjoyed it, but sadly Cheeky was always out-of-town so never got the chance to attend any.

This year had a lot of ups and downs, and still I personally don’t feel very settled, but lets hope that would change sometime soon, and I promise ill be more active around here :)

And to end this, a few thank you :)

To start off with Cheeky, my friend, my crazy loopy friend, and my partner in crime. I love you :)

A big thank you goes out to all our blogging friends (not to mention names and forget any) you have been a major support to us. Thank you to all of our readers (the anonymous and the ones we know) you guys are the reason why we are here. Thank you to all the companies who invited us to their events and were interested to get to know us more and have a good relationship.

If you have any suggestions, concerns, thoughts, ideas, complains, ANYTHING you wanna say to us, please do! we would be happy to hear them out and work on making them happen :)
