Help: Save Baby Fahad

8 Feb

A couple of months ago, there was a case of a boy named Abdulkareem who needed urgent help to save him from losing his leg. Us and our fellow bloggers spread the word around the place to find someone who can donate a certain amount of money for his travel and operation expenses, luckily many people came ahead to help and he was saved.

Today we have a new case that’s worth your attention and help. Fahad (11 months old) is Syrian boy who was diagnosed with leukemia and needs a marrow transplant urgently. A donor for his case was found, but sadly the whole operation and the traveling cost would be around 37,000KD. His family does not have that kind of money.

We are taking this chance to ask YOU and for you to ask EVERYONE you know that could help in any way! This is a matter of life and death and you don’t really know the power of social media and word of mouth. Please spread the word as much as possible, this kid can live a happy life with a bit of help.

If you have any idea on how to help Fahad, please don’t hesitate to contact us on our email (moodyncheeky@gmail.com) and we will make sure to pass it to the right person, a medical report of Fahad’s case is also available if needed.

why do i attract psychos?

24 Jan

i have a story to tell you about yesterday, but in order to do so i just need to give you a background from Saturday:

Saturday:

i was walking to the supermarket (Spinneys) the other day on saturday which is a few minutes from my house to pick up some blueberries! (i love em and they have such a nice burst of flavour) and some raspberries (for the tangyness that makes my mouth water everytime i think about them).. this was the first time i was going there since i had returned from my holiday from Kuwait…

and as i am walking to Spinneys there is a man who says hello to me, I say hello also.. he asks me how i am and where i’ve been (please bear in mind i have never even seen this man before and don’t know who he is, but he seems to know of my travels).. i’m polite and then say goodbye, taking a different route to him..

Yesterday (Monday):

i got home from work and went straight to Spinneys to pick up some sun-dried tomatoes to add to the salad i was making as part of dinner.. and who do i see in there! the same man as Saturday (i’m gonna call him “man x” from now on).. he says hi.. and ofcourse i am polite back.. i don’t know if the guy knows my father or whatever…

he’s in the queue to pay for his things as i get near the queues too.. he tells me to go infront of him.. i said thank you thank you it’s okay.. and went to a different queue.. he’s done before me.. but as i come out i see him on the phone just standing there.. he shuts the phone as soon as i get out and starts walking with me… this is how the convo went

him: what did you buy
me: things for a salad
him: fruit salad?
me: no just a salad with vegetables
him: if you ever make a fruit salad u must invite me
me: i hate fruit salads, i like fruits on their own
him: ohhh.. do you live alone?
me: no i live with my parents
him: are you married?
me: no
him: i’d like very much to get married
me: i don’t ever wanna get married, such a waste of time.. i’m happy.. why do i need a man to cause problems..
him: nooo!!! its very good.. u can have a different life.. u can have a man with you and then u can have kids
me: i hate kids.. they annoy me.. cause sooo many problems..
him: i must invite you to my restaurant sometime (pointing at the restaurant right next to us)
me: i eat there often.. its really nice food..
him: its because your mouth is lovely that you taste the food as nice
me: (smile) byyyeee
him: bye

i do not necessarily agree with everything that i said! but how do i react to that! i love kids!!! i absolutely adore kidsss!!!!!!!!!!!

why do i always find the weird ones :’(

Therapy, Do You Need It?

23 Jan

We all probably grew up watching movies that shows people going to a therapist because they have serious problems! It’s either because they have lost a close person and can’t get over the fact that they no longer exist, or a couple facing problems in their life so they head to the marriage/relationship counsellor, or just a person who has some anger issues. No matter what it is, they always show us messed up people going to a therapist, which I think is wrong.

We meet different people everyday who we might think have some serious issues and need immediate action whether at work, family or friends. Those people don’t actually realize that they have a problem, a few of them who does don’t really wanna take it to a professional because in the Arab world therapy is for CRAZY people only. Not to forget also the fact that Kuwait in particular is very small and people care about their reputation and what people might think of them if they find out.

How would you know if you have a problem? or what are the signs that could tell a person is having a problem. This is the important question  now! To me this is how I rate people:

1. Depression: if a person is always depressed, can’t see anything good in his life, cries a lot, lost of interest in everything, doesn’t like to socialize with other, frustrated, all of these signs mean this person is going the wrong road in life! I’m personally frustrated with work and it can get me depressed every now and then, but there are so many other good things in my life that makes me happy.

2. Drugs: people who uses drugs (taking pills, alcohol, smoking) as a solution to make themselves feel better all the time. This is a huge problem as they end up addicted to that drug and obviously did not solve the main problem.

3. Anger: some people are always edgy, angry, mad at something, its like they are always on hold waiting for something wrong to happen so they can burst it all out! which probably would cause them lots of troubles and losing their close ones.

4. Health: some people may feel physical pain which is caused by some psychological problem that doctors can’t solve.

5. Low self confidence: people who always feel bad about themselves, they think they are ugly, they always compare themselves to others.

All of these things are signs that sometimes I notice with the people who I meet everyday, which makes me believe that those people need SERIOUS help asap and shouldnt take it for granted.

BUT on the other hand, I don’t think only those people should go and see a therapist, I think everyone should do that even if they think they don’t have a problem at all! now let’s be honest, we ALL had a problem somewhere in our lives, we all went through some tough times, we all have secrets, and we aren’t very educated in this field, so why not let someone professional take the lead and help you even if it’s just a small issue in your life! at the end it would make your life better wouldn’t it?

All am saying here is that am really interested in visiting a therapist some day! I think it would be fun and interesting, people should start looking at it in a different way.

Have you ever been to one? how did it go? and if no, would you?

Support: GIVE..Bloggers to Community

2 Oct

Our fellow blogger and friend Q8Rain took a huge step forward towards humanity and helping people out. Whats great about this is that she made a commitment to help kids with cancer, her commitment is to try to make them happy and smile once a month, and we have to help her out too.

To some of you the word Cancer is just a word that means a disease, some can’t even say it thinking if they do then they bring bad luck to themselves, and some who knows exactly what it means because it’s either they suffer from it or was cured. Whatever that word means to you, you should never underestimate it or the people who suffer from it.

I personally had a friend who used to have leukemia and gladly was cured from it. I know for a fact that me staying around her and act like nothing is going on was the best thing that ive given her. People who suffer from cancer need just SOMEONE to be around, to talk to, to make them laugh, and this is the whole point of this campaign.

What you can do?

Theres gonna be a party for the kids with cancer every month at the NBK Hospital, again..its EVERY MONTH! All your asked to do is to donate something, toys, coloring books, games, educational stuff, whatever you can afford, they are kids and believe me they aren’t demanding, we just wana make them smile and have a good time. If you think you have more ideas you can participate in to make the party more joyful, please don’t hesitate.

When?

Tomorrow the 3rd of October is the first party, It will start at 10:30 till 12:30 and we hope we can make those 65 kids see life differently for those 2 hours at least.

How?

You can easily contact Q8Rain or send us here and we will make sure to deliver whatever you have to offer.

What did we do?

We tried to provide whatever we can in such a short period and wrap them, hopefully next month we can think of something more creative :) I wanna thank also my bestie Yayoo for donating some toys and also That Al Salasil who were very welcoming to the idea and were very happy to help and send us lots of kids books.

We wanna thank Q8Rain for this thoughtful idea and hope all the bloggers can take this seriously and act up on it. It will not cost you much believe me, you can make someone happy by doing this, so think about it. We also added a badge on our side banner to be an official supporter. I will personally wear YELLOW tomorrow cuz gold is the color of childhood cancer ribbon, so why don’t we all do that?

Help: Ladies Beauty Centers in Kuwait

11 Sep

This is gonna be a girly post, so if you were a guy you wouldn’t probably want to waste your time around here ;)

First of all, I need to say that am going through 2 rough weeks right now, its my brother’s wedding next week and we are kinda running out of time. Last week wasnt that easy at work so it’s not helping at all.

On the other hand, Cheeky was in town this weekend and sadly we didn’t get the chance to meet up! yes that’s so stupid but we both were running crazy doin things and couldn’t manage to meet :( we both owe each other a proper hangout :D

I was also sad not to be able to attend the bloggers union, I was so looking forward to it and i just couldn’t fit it in the schedule even till the last minute. Even Cheeky was supposed to attend, so we really hope everyone enjoyed it and we will make sure to be there on the next one.

NOW LETS GET SERIOUS

I need all the girls bloggers help on this one, and whoever is gonna be kind to do so I hope they can be specific and ill really appreciate it. What I need to know is:

What are the good beauty salons in Kuwait that can do really nice makeups and hairstyles?

Before you think about answering this question, please note that for the makeup am looking for something LIGHT, lets say middle eastern style, but it would show that it’s a professional makeup that would last for hours.

For the hairstyle, not looking for something major, but I care about how professional it is and simply NEAT.

What i would appreciate it if you girls could mention your own experience, the name of the place, location, people you dealt with, prices, and if possible the contact number.

I would appreciate it if you can spread the word around, I have checked out some places but I would love to see more, your opinion matters, and am kinda running out of time, so HELP!

One of Those Days: Sleepless

5 Sep

Its been almost a week since Ramadan is over and I still have messed up routine when it comes to sleeping. I took a week off on the last week of Ramadan and i was sleeping well I would say, true maybe I used to sleep more than am supposed to (9 to 10 hours) but I didn’t have a problem sleeping in the first place.

Now its my second day of work and I have slept around 7 hours in total. Yesterday I have forced myself to not sleep through the day (which was so tempting) just to be able to sleep at night which also didn’t help. I spent 4 hours in bed just trying to sleep and its so freaking annoying.

Whats bugging me mostly about this is that my mind is fully awake and functioning like crazy late at night. I hear my voice inside my head (no am not crazy) saying stuff and remembering things. Not to mention the annoying songs that comes to my mind that I keep repeating over and over again!!! What am I suppose to do to fix this??

I tried getting up and doing other stuff, I tried listening to something else just to rest my head, I tried switching to the other side of the bed, it’s almost everything in vain.

Am just tired and sleepy and need to have a good night sleep :(

Who to blame? I say the messed up routine of Ramadan! god knows how long this will take me to fix and get back to the old me. Anyone here facing the same problem? and if you do, how do you usually deal with it?
