Event: NBK Walkathon & Competition!

For the 19th year (wow..thats along time ago!), NBK is hosting their annual Walkathon that takes place on the gulf road. It amazes me every year of the amount of people and the different ages that actually participate! It’s a very fun day that brings joy to everyone, and whats better than being healthy!

I have participated for 4 years in a row, then I stopped, its like every time something comes up that stops me from going, but it shouldnt stop YOU! go on and have a blast with your family and friends.

This year NBK is doing something a bit different, not only you will be walking supporting your OWN cause, but you can also win Galaxy Camera by taking a picture of the walkathon. The best 3 pictures will win the Galaxy camera, now that’s pretty cool ;)

RoadRush is back for the 3rd year in a row! If you have no idea what RoadRush is, well I think the video would be enough for you to understand :P

Girls can drive too, girls have interest in cars too, and we personally LOVE hot cars, dont we Cheeky?

Event: Red Bull 3rd Flugtag

Another year and another Flugtag happening in Kuwait. This is my second time attending the event (read about last year HERE) and I honestly had mixed feelings about it as it wasnt that great last year, but I definitely wanted to go to see how they changed and if there was something different.

To start with the invitation, it was probably the coolest part! I just appreciate cool invitations, which happened to be as an airline ticket with a boarding pass.

A good thing that happened this year is that they actually started on time, not like last year’s event. I was glad to see them bringing someone from outside to present the show, which happen to be Rayya who represent Scoop on MBC. I personally like her but some people find her irritating I guess lol.

Now, I do understand that we don’t have a lot of open space with facilities in Kuwait that they can use for this event, but I REALLY don’t think Marina is the right choice. It’s true its gonna be on their benefit as Marina Crescent is usually crowded on weekends which means they will have more people watching, but you can’t really ask people to stand and watch for 4 hours  with kids running around and people holding cameras! It’s true we were sitting in the VIP area, but we got a glimpse of that too.

Lets talk about the participants shall we?

I didn’t get the chance to take a lot of pics, but most of the teams have done a great job in building their “plane” or whatever the shape is! it seems they also spent enough time deciding on their theme and customs. However, 90% of them failed to actually fly!

Each team also had around 1 minutes before they actually jump to perform a show, where most of them danced on Gangnam Style, which was kinda funny :) Check out this video that we shot:

Weather? That day was not a good day at all. Humidity, windy every now and then, then it turned cloudy. We were not prepared for that, shorts were a MUST!

Overall, the event was better than last year I guess. I really hope next year they can figure out a better place to host it at, and maybe we would participate! who knows ;)

Event: Holiday Inn PlayStation 3 Competition

ProjectX: Most Exciting Food Competition

Last Friday I had a weird day that was full of excitement and FOOD! Yes, I finally decided to enter the food industry for the first time by participating in a very cool competition that was organized by Chef Boutique called Project X! this competition is organized for the bloggers and I believe it’s already a success! I highly recommend that they continue with it for the public.

It was my first time visiting Chef Boutique and I gotta say, what an amazing place! it’s just perfect! everything was organized and set, people were so nice to us and it simply felt like home! (a big thank you to Victor & Olga, you guys rock!)

So the day started at 3 pm where we headed to Chef Boutique to get ready for the competition. Not knowing whats gonna happen exactly was kinda getting me nervous, but the moment I started talking to the organizers, I felt more comfortable and actually excited to hit my station and get busy!

There were 6 teams playing, I had the 3rd sister from the triple sisters on my team, it was my first time meeting her, but we hit it off well :) The competition had 2 rounds and both had mystery ingredients that we have to include in our dish. What I didn’t know is that THAT mystery ingredient was supposed to be dominant on the dish! so our first was Mango, so we decided to make a fruit salad, ice cream with chocolate syrup, and strawberries dipped into nutella. Probably not the best choice we can come up with, but don’t blame us, we were nervous lol.

As for the second round, we were again surprised to find that our mystery ingredient was Bleu cheese! and don’t I hate bleu cheese :S The first thing that I thought off was MEAT! so we had bleu cheese meat steak with bleu cheese stuffed mushrooms and salad on the side. Again, probably not the craziest choice we can go for, but we were just tired and really wanted to win!

And guess what, we actually did WIN! it was overwhelming knowing that we were good enough to pass the first stage and be there for the finale stage next week. we definitely need to be prepared more but at least we have a full idea about it now.

I believe everyone was a winner, the fun we had was so different from the usual, we do get invited to a lot of events around Kuwait, but this one definitely tops them all!

Project X: Bloggers Cooking Competition

This is one of the coolest ideas that Chef Boutique came up with for the bloggers as I always support these games/competition between bloggers cuz its simply FUN!

So now that Cheeky is not in Kuwait, sadly I cannot participate with her (tho it would be hilarious if we did) so am in with one of the triple sisters :) The competition starts on Friday and hopefully we wouldn’t be eliminated right away lol. I have never been put under the spot light when it comes to cooking, so fingers crossed!

Event: 3rd Red Bull Flugtag 2012

Red bull is doing it again this year, and its your turn to take your chances on this fun activity with your friends! This is the 3rd year in a row to present Red Bull Flugtag in Kuwait. Last year I attended and sadly I couldn’t stand the weather (which was in November) and the crowd to see the whole show, and am not very sure about this year either as its gonna be in October! however, am sure a lot of you are interested, and this is to call out all the people who would like to PARTICIPATE and jump! If you are, hurry up, deadline for participation is 14 June.

Event: Wataniya Give Kuwait Bloggers Night

2 months ago I wrote about Wataniya’s press conference for launching Give Kuwait 2 (read it here) and explained the main purpose for this campaign. 2 days ago Wataniya invited a lot of Kuwait’s bloggers for a private event at Tatami (read my review here) to explain more about the campaign and encourage whoever is interested to take the initiative and register cuz this would be a great opportunity.

What is Give Kuwait?

Give Kuwait is a program that will help YOU if you have a small business (whether it’s an idea, service or a product) and need someone to push you into the right path.

How does this work?

You need to be 18 and above and have a great startup business. You shouldnt have a retail store for your business (starting fresh lets say). Fill out a registration form HERE and you might be chosen along with 250 other participants.

What do you get?

You will be part of a huge advertising campaign (radio, billboards and press), so you can say all of Kuwait will know about you. You will have a free booth at the biggest exhibition of its kind in Kuwait for 5 days to present your work. And if you are a trainee, you will get skill development training workshops.

I honestly think this is a great chance given by Wataniya to everyone who have a small business or an idea and couldn’t go for it for many reasons that we all know of. this is your chance to be successful, so what are you waiting for?
